Insurance
Flagship Insurance Agency is offering an excess liability policy to D.C. Bar members. This excess liability policy supplements the basic personal liability coverage provided under personal insurance policies, such as homeowners and auto. Excess liability policies provide coverage over underlying coverage and may cover liabilities that would be excluded under the home or auto policy. Coverage is sold in $5 million increments. This line of personal property-casualty cover has the lowest ratio of premium to maximum claim payout of personal insurance lines.
The excess liability policy provided to D.C. Bar members includes worldwide excess liability protection, with coverage for personal injury, including libel and slander. (Personal injury for high profile individuals may not include libel and slander). It also includes property damage coverage afforded for liability claims which exceed the underlying limits of the existing automobile, homeowners, and watercraft insurance through other insurance policies. Legal and related defense costs are paid in addition to the policy coverage limits.

The D.C. Bar is partnered with USI Affinity to provide a Lawyer's Professional Liability (LPL) program to D.C. Bar members. USI Affinity is a nationwide leader in designing and administering Bar Association insurance programs, with more than 50 years of experience insuring attorneys, and is the insurance plan administrator for more than 400 associations nationwide, representing some 15 million members.
USI Affinity built its leadership position on personal service. Representatives work closely with law firms to understand their practice and the risks they face, then obtain coverage tailored to their individual needs. USI Affinity’s extensive experience combined with their market position and strong relationships with top insurance companies give them the ability to design comprehensive, customized coverage at competitive prices.
